ARCH:ID 2027 Introduces “Hidup Kedua,” Reimagining What Comes After We Build

Jakarta, 8 September 2026 — The Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI) and CIS Exhibition officially introduced ARCH:ID 2027 during an exclusive launch in Jakarta, marking the beginning of the seventh edition of Indonesia’s Most Awaited Architecture Forum and Trade Event. ARCH:ID 2027 will take place from 15–18 April 2027 at ICE BSD City.

For its seventh edition, ARCH:ID introduces Hidup Kedua - Second Life. A Next Chapter as its curatorial theme — the idea of giving architecture, materials, products, and installations a new purpose beyond their first use.

Through Hidup Kedua, ARCH:ID 2027 invites the architecture and design industry to look beyond the initial function of what is built and consider what comes next. Buildings, materials, products, and installations are considered not only for how they perform today, but also for how they can be designed with future use in mind — allowing them to be reused, adapted, transformed, and continue creating value over time.

The 2027 edition is curated by Ar. Adi Purnomo, IAI (mamostudio), Ar. Osrithalita Gabriela, IAI (AGo Architects), and Ar. Achmad Zakaria, IAI (Tata Habitat). Together, they will lead the curatorial direction of ARCH:ID 2027 and explore Hidup Kedua through three interconnected lenses: Location, Climate, and Time.

These perspectives examine how architecture responds to the place from which it emerges, the realities and possibilities of Indonesia’s tropical climate, and the passage of time — including how buildings, materials, and their functions can evolve beyond their initial use.

“Sustainability has become part of the architectural conversation, but the challenge is how we translate that conversation into actual design decisions. Through Hidup Kedua, we want to explore small but tangible ways architecture can extend the value, function, and usefulness of what has already been built.”  — Ar. Adi Purnomo, IAI; Ar. Osrithalita Gabriela, IAI; and Ar. Achmad Zakaria, IAI, Curators of ARCH:ID 2027

Hidup Kedua also invites the building materials and design industry to rethink how products, materials, and installations are developed, specified, presented, and used — including what happens to them beyond the four-day exhibition. ARCH:ID continues to connect architects and design professionals with manufacturers, brands, suppliers, developers, contractors, and other stakeholders across the built environment ecosystem.

“ARCH:ID has always been about creating meaningful connections between architecture and industry. With Hidup Kedua, we want to take that collaboration further by encouraging brands and industry partners not only to present their products, but to explore how materials, solutions, and ideas can create value beyond the exhibition itself.” — R. Arief Sofyan Rudiantoro, Project Director CIS Exhibition

Beyond the exhibition, ARCH:ID 2027 will also feature a series of signature programs, including the International Conference, Business Matching, Featured Exhibition, Talk Series, Hackathon, and other industry and networking programs.

ARCH:ID 2027 is projected to welcome 40,000 visitors across 22,000 sqm of gross exhibition space, featuring 1,000 booths. The event will bring together architects, designers, developers, contractors, manufacturers, brands, academics, government institutions, and professionals from across the wider built environment industry.

As ARCH:ID enters its seventh edition, it continues to evolve as a meeting point for architecture, ideas, materials, and industry. Through Hidup Kedua, ARCH:ID 2027 invites the architecture and design community to consider not only what we build, but what it can become next.
